Nasolabial Fold Fillers in Pickering, ON

The lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth deepen as the cheeks lose volume and gravity pulls tissue downward. Filler can soften these folds directly — or indirectly by restoring mid-face support. Mia assesses both to find the right approach for you.

The Treatment

What Nasolabial Filler Addresses

Hyaluronic acid filler is placed in or around the nasolabial fold to soften its depth and reduce shadowing. In many clients, the most effective approach also involves addressing mid-face volume loss that is pulling the overlying tissue downward.

What it may help address

  • Deep nasolabial folds creating prominent shadowing at rest
  • Folds that contribute to a tired or aged facial appearance
  • Loss of mid-face support driving fold depth
  • Asymmetry between the two sides
  • The transition from cheek to fold line (tear trough relationship)

Good candidates

  • Adults with visible nasolabial folds at rest that bother them
  • Clients in good general health with realistic expectations
  • Not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Aware that direct fold treatment softens rather than eliminates the fold
  • Open to discussing whether mid-face volume would better serve their result

Direct vs. Indirect Treatment

The Fold Is the Symptom, Not Always the Target

Nasolabial folds deepen for two reasons: tissue descent driven by mid-face volume loss, and intrinsic fold deepening from repeated facial movement. In younger clients, direct fold filler is often appropriate. In clients with significant mid-face volume loss, treating the fold directly without addressing its cause produces a less natural result — the fold softens but the face still looks deflated.

Mia assesses this during consultation: if your mid-face has lost significant volume, she may recommend starting with cheek filler and evaluating the fold at a follow-up, rather than injecting the fold in isolation. This indirect approach often produces a more natural, lifted result.

When direct fold filler is appropriate, HA product is placed using a cannula along the fold length, softening the depth and shadow without over-filling. Over-filled nasolabial folds can look unnatural — the goal is softening, not elimination. Results may vary.

Your Experience

What to Expect

01

Assessment

Mia evaluates your fold depth, the degree of mid-face volume loss, and your overall facial proportions. She'll explain whether direct fold treatment, indirect mid-face treatment, or a combination is most appropriate for your anatomy.

02

The Treatment

Cannula or needle placement along the fold. Treatments typically take 20–30 minutes. Some mild swelling and possible bruising are common. Topical numbing cream is applied beforehand.

03

Results & Longevity

Softening is visible immediately, with final result at 1–2 weeks. Nasolabial filler typically lasts 9–12 months. Because the area moves with every smile, product metabolizes a little faster here than in lower-movement zones. Results may vary.

Your Injector

Not Every Fold Needs to Be Filled Directly.

Treating the nasolabial fold without considering mid-face context is one of the most common over-treatment patterns in aesthetic medicine. Mia's approach is to look at the whole picture first — where the volume has been lost, where the tissue has descended, and what's driving the fold — before deciding where product should go.

She'll tell you clearly if she thinks treating another area first will produce a better outcome for the fold.

Common Questions

Nasolabial Fold Fillers FAQ

  • Softening is a more realistic goal than elimination. Nasolabial folds are a natural feature of facial anatomy and become more prominent with movement and age. Overfilling to the point of elimination typically looks unnatural — the fold disappears but the face looks inflated. Mia aims for a result that reads as refreshed rather than treated.

  • It depends on your anatomy. If your mid-face has lost significant volume, treating the cheeks first often lifts the fold from above and produces a more natural result. If the fold is the primary concern with minimal mid-face volume loss, direct fold treatment may be appropriate. Mia will assess this and give you her honest recommendation.

  • No. Nasolabial fold filler is placed in tissue that moves naturally with smiling. A correctly placed and appropriately sized treatment will not restrict movement or look unnatural during expression.

  • Typically 9–12 months. The nasolabial area moves with every smile and facial expression, so product metabolizes a little faster here than in structural areas like the cheek or jaw. Results vary by individual.
