Lipolysis — Fat Dissolve
Injections in Pickering, ON
Targeted reduction of stubborn fat pockets — without surgery, general anaesthesia, or significant downtime. Administered by Mia Piamonte, RN BScN.
The Science
What Are Fat Dissolve Injections?
Lipolysis injections use a solution — most commonly deoxycholic acid or a phosphatidylcholine-based compound — to disrupt and break down fat cell membranes in a targeted area. Once disrupted, the fat is gradually processed and eliminated by the body's natural systems over several weeks. The result is a measurable reduction in the treated area, with no incisions and no general anaesthesia. This is not a weight loss treatment — it is designed to address specific, localised pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Treatment Areas
Where Can Lipolysis Be Used?
Double Chin
Submental fat — the pocket beneath the chin — is one of the most common areas treated with lipolysis. It is often resistant to exercise and can persist regardless of overall body weight. A series of injections may help support a more defined jawline and chin profile. This is among the most well-studied applications of injectable lipolysis.
Area: Submental fat · Under-chin pocket · Jaw definition
Bra & Back Fat
Localised fat along the bra line and upper back can be difficult to address through exercise alone. Lipolysis injections may help reduce the appearance of these pockets, supporting a smoother silhouette. Multiple sessions are typically required, and results develop gradually as the body processes the disrupted fat cells.

Jowls & Jawline
Soft tissue laxity and localised fat in the lower face and jowl area can blur the jawline definition that many clients seek. Lipolysis in this area is a more nuanced application and requires careful assessment — Mia's medical training and anatomical knowledge are critical to treating this area safely and achieving a natural-looking result.

Is It Right for You?
Good Candidates & Realistic Expectations
Lipolysis works best for specific clients with specific goals. Mia will assess whether this treatment is appropriate for you at your consultation.
Good Candidates
Adults at or near their goal weight with localised, stubborn fat pockets that have not responded to diet or exercise. Clients who are in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and understand that lipolysis is a contouring treatment — not a weight loss solution.
What to Expect
Results develop over 6–12 weeks as the body processes disrupted fat cells. Most clients require a series of 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Swelling, redness, and tenderness in the treated area are normal in the days following treatment. Final results are typically visible 8–12 weeks after the last session.
Your Experience
What to Expect
Consultation & Assessment
Mia reviews your health history and assesses the treatment area to determine whether lipolysis is appropriate for your goals. She will explain the process, realistic outcomes, and what to expect at each stage — including how many sessions may be needed and what the recovery looks like.
The Treatment
A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment. The solution is delivered via a series of small injections into the targeted fat pocket using a fine needle. Sessions typically take 20–40 minutes depending on the area. Some pressure and mild discomfort during injection is normal and expected.
Recovery & Results
Swelling, redness, and tenderness in the treated area are expected and are a normal part of the process — they indicate the treatment is working. Most clients return to regular activities within a day or two. Results appear gradually over 6–12 weeks as the body eliminates the disrupted fat cells.
Your Injector
Why Does Your Injector Matter?
Lipolysis injections carry a higher margin for error than many other aesthetic treatments. Incorrect placement, dosing, or injection technique can cause uneven results, prolonged swelling, or injury to surrounding structures. Mia Piamonte is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and specific training in injectable techniques and facial and body anatomy. At MVP, every lipolysis treatment begins with a thorough assessment — and is only performed when it is genuinely the right option for you.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
No. CoolSculpting (cryolipolysis) uses controlled cooling to freeze fat cells, while injectable lipolysis uses a solution injected directly into the fat to break down cell membranes. Both target localised fat, but they are different technologies, different processes, and different experiences. Injectable lipolysis tends to involve more sessions with more gradual results, and is generally better suited to smaller, more defined treatment areas.
Most clients require 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The number of sessions depends on the size of the treatment area, the amount of localised fat present, and how your body responds to the first session. Mia will give you a realistic estimate at your consultation and reassess after each session.
Fat cells that are disrupted by lipolysis are eliminated and do not return. However, remaining fat cells in the area can still expand with significant weight gain. Maintaining a stable weight after treatment helps preserve results. Lipolysis addresses a specific pocket of fat — it is not a substitute for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Swelling is a normal and expected part of the lipolysis process — it is actually a sign that the treatment is working. The treated area will typically swell noticeably in the 24–48 hours following the session, and may remain swollen for 1–2 weeks. Tenderness and firmness in the area are also common. Mia will provide detailed aftercare instructions to help manage this.
Injectable lipolysis carries more risk than many aesthetic treatments, and the credentials of your injector matter significantly. Mia is a Registered Nurse with medical training in anatomy and injection technique, and uses only Health Canada-approved products. Your consultation will include a full health review to confirm you are a suitable candidate. There are contraindications — including certain medical conditions and medications — which Mia will screen for before proceeding.
Yes — many clients combine lipolysis with other treatments as part of a broader aesthetic plan. For example, reducing submental fat with lipolysis can complement jawline definition achieved with anti-wrinkle injectables or dermal fillers. Mia will help you understand what combination, timing, and sequencing makes sense for your goals at your consultation.
